Wedding Proposal That You Should Know

Are you ready to take the plunge? If you have a single romantic bone in your body, you’re probably racking your brains out on how to propose in the most mind-blowing way. Unfortunately, what worked for someone else, probably won’t work you. This is especially true if your girlfriend has watched every wedding proposal video on YouTube. You can only hope she’s also watched The Wedding Proposal and Leap Year, so she’ll get an idea that asking your hand in marriage is just as cool too.

But because it’s a man’s job to propose (darn the person who made this rule), you’ll have to orchestrate “the wedding proposal to rule them all”. What’s a guy to do?

Surprise Her
Whatever you choose to do, make sure it takes her by surprise. Come up with something unexpected, but keep your plans close to your chest. If you need people to help you pull off the wedding proposal of the century, keep the number to a minimum.

Show Your Romantic Side

Have you been accused of being thoughtless because you forgot your anniversary or her birthday? Making the wedding proposal is the time to prove her otherwise. Get inspiration from your first date, recreate that momentous event and then pop the question.

Know the Best Time to Go Public

No matter how much you love each other, uncertainties could be lurking in your mind. Unless you’re absolutely sure that she’ll say yes, don’t propose in public. It’s also a bad idea to use the situation to force her to say yes, as you might regret it later.

Aim for Something Really Personal

By this, it means personal to her. Find out more about her loves, interests, and plan a wedding proposal accordingly. If she loves to perform in the theater, for example, ask her stage manager to allow you to propose after the curtain call.

Mix in a Touch of Traditional

Regardless of how simple a proposal is, going down on one knee will make it special in every sense of the word. So make sure you don’t forget to take a knee.

Maintain Eye Contact

Keep your eyes locked on to her. Glance just a bit to the left or right, and she’ll think you’re uncertain. Look back and she’ll think you’re waiting for someone to miraculously appear and spill your hidden identity. Look up and she’ll think you’re praying for the clouds to open up, and swallow you whole.

Get an Actual Ring

Sure, it’s romantic to propose the way The Count of Monte Cristo did. But if you have the resources to actually buy a ring, proposing with just a thread in hand might be viewed as an attempt to assuage her doubts about your commitment.

Don’t Lose the Ring

A ridiculous tip, no doubt. But a guy losing a ring has been known to happen. If it costs you your life’s savings, you might have to resort to being The Count. In this case, you’ll have to work out some magic, so she’ll overlook the lack of an actual ring.

Record the Proposal

With the effort you’ve invested in planning and executing the proposal, it’s only right to record a video of it. Your fiancĂ©e will love it, and you can show it off during the wedding reception.

Practice ‘til You Get It

Be the romantic guy that you really are, and compose a poem or think of something really heartwarming to say. To avoid stuttering or forgetting your lines during the big moment, practice until you get it.

Disappointed that the list doesn’t include ideas for a proposal? That’s because you have to come up with something uniquely your own, using the tips above as your guide.
